What to expect

Our education and training sessions are a combination of in-person and online workshops and webinars, aimed at making it easier for you to access the support you need, when and where you need it. Our webinars range from one to two hours and our workshops run for either a half or full day.

Our coaching and consultancy services can also be delivered either in-person or online and are best delivered one-to-one or with small groups. Session lengths can range from an hour to half a day depending on your needs.

Group therapy will involve a group of no more than ten like-minded people, meeting face-to-face for an hour each week.

Our group therapy and in-person sessions are hosted at Durham Wellness Space, these can be held at other locations upon request.

All of our services are designed to foster understanding and learning, reduce stigma, and nurture safer, more supportive environments for everyone. Whether you’re attending by yourself, or part of your workplace, it’s important to know what to expect in terms of how we treat each other during these important conversations.

Respect is the foundation of any productive mental health and wellbeing discussion. During sessions, you’ll be encouraged to:

    • Actively listen without interrupting or dismissing others’ experiences.
    • Avoid making assumptions about others’ mental health or personal histories.
    • Use inclusive language and avoid terms that may be outdated or offensive.
    • Respect privacy and always hold confidentiality – what’s shared in the session, stays in the session, unless otherwise agreed upon.

Staying open-minded during sessions will allow you to learn from new perspectives or understand information that challenges common misconceptions. Being open-minded means:

    • Being willing to learn and unlearn.
    • Remaining curious and non-judgemental, when confronted with ideas or experiences unfamiliar to you.
    • Recognising that mental health impacts everyone differently, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach or solution.

Non-offensive and safe dialogue will enable you, and other participants, to feel comfortable in sharing potentially personal and sensitive information during discussions and sessions. Creating a supportive space benefits everyone taking part. We will help guide respectful dialogue, but you can play a big role too. You’ll be encouraged to:

    • Think before you speak and consider others when speaking – especially around topics like trauma, self-harm, or other sensitive subjects.
    • Ask questions with care, and not out of curiosity, that might make someone feel uncomfortable or put them on the spot.
    • Challenge ideas, not people – focus on discussing concepts, tools and theories rather than an individual’s choice or experience.
